Deadline reports that Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza are re-teaming for a new comedy movie, Spin Me Round. The Duplass Brothers productions and Limelight will produce the pic. The picture is being fully financed by the latter. In Italy, production begins next month. The cast is rounded out by Ben Sinclair, Ayden Mayeri, Tim Heidecker, Zach woods, Debby Ryan, Ego Nwodim, Lauren Weedman, and Jake Picking.

The manager of a small California town franchise of an Italian chain restaurant is played by Alison Brie who wins an all-expenses-paid trip to the company’s headquarters in Florence, Italy, and gets a chance to the wealthy and charismatic owner (Alessandro Nivola) of the restaurant chain. She finds a far different adventure than the romantic fantasy she had imagined along with a mismatched group of local American franchise managers.

Molly Shannon, Lil Rel Howery, and Fred Armisen also star, and the script that had been co-written by both Brie and Jeff Baena will be directed by Baena. As producers, indie royalty Mark and Jay Duplass are on board.

The pair have worked together before and both actors are known for their roles on beloved sitcoms- Plaza in Parks and Recreation and Brie for her role in Community. In the 2020 festive rom-com Happiest Season, the co-starred and also in The Little Hours of 2017 which was directed as well as written by Baena.

Several times, Brie and Baena have collaborated and the most recent one was for the Horse Girl, a Netflix show, where they produced and co-wrote the psychological drama together and the lead role was played by Brie. Recently, she was also seen in the Oscar-winning Promising Young Woman and the directorial debut of Dave Franco- The Rental.

Meanwhile, Aubrey Plaza starred in the thriller Black Bear and she is currently filming Five eyes which is an upcoming spy movie from Guy Ritchie alongside Hugh Grant and Jason Statham.

Limelight, founded by Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker, produced the Andy Samberg comedy Palm Springs. Duplass Brothers Productions, run by Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass, and Mel Eslyn, through its first look HBO deal has upcoming the Bridget Everett-starrer Somebody Somewhere for HBO.
