A federal judge halts Clovis Community College's restrictive poster policy.

The policy violated First and 14th Amendment rights.

 Posters with "inappropriate" or "offensive" content were banned.

Permanent injunction issued against the college and district.

 Settlement includes $250,000 in legal expenses and damages.

Students received $20,000 each; their group received $20,000.  

Annual First Amendment training required for administrators.  

 Initial preliminary injunction issued in October 2022.

 Policy was seen as chilling free speech.

The policy thwarted educational mission promoting diverse viewpoints.

 Incident began with anti-communist posters in November 2021.

Appeals court affirmed the unconstitutionality of the policy.
