Who shot and killed rapper Julio Folio in an 'ambush' in Tampa and why

Jacksonville rapper Julio Folio was shot and killed in Tampa early Sunday

His attorney, Louis Fusco, confirmed this to News4Jax.

Charles Jones, known in rap as “Julio Foolio,” was celebrating his 26th birthday, which was Friday, and was staying at an Airbnb.

Fusco said that there were too many people at the Airbnb they were celebrating at and they had to leave. In an Instagram story, the rapper said that the police shut down the pool party and they had to leave the Airbnb

Fusco said the rapper got a room at the Holiday Inn hotel, where he was “ambushed” in the parking lot.

According to Tampa Police, three other people were injured and are being treated in the hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.

Dozens of people have taken to social media to express their grief over the rapper's death, including a woman who claimed she was his girlfriend.

Jones was known for his popular drill rap videos, which contained controversial lyrics about murders committed by rival gangs in Jacksonville.

Jones has been shot twice in Jacksonville in the past three years.
